“We are extremely saddened to hear of the sudden passing of Jamie Boyd, formerly with the Shakespeare Falcons. Jamie was the 2010 Kevin Herlihy ISC Newcomer of the Year and was named to the ISC All-World team that year in Midland. He was also named to several ISC II All-Tournament teams with Tavistock Merchants and Bridgeport Braves. More recently, Jamie was coaching his son in the Tavistock Athletics minor ball program. We extend our deepest sympathies to the Boyd family, as well as to his close friends in the Falcons family.”
Editor’s note: We remember Jamie our days covering the ISC II Tournament of Champions, when Jamie was a standout for teams like the Bridgeport Braves, Tavistock Merchants and the Shakespeare Falcons. A pure hitter with power, he earned honors at the 2010 ISC World Tournament, the Kevin Herlihy Memorial Newcomer of the Year award winning, and top RBI man in the tournament. Beloved by his teammates, and respected by opposing players, you would often find him with both after a game, talking about the game and trading friendly jibes. Always that broad, affable smile. If you were nearby, he would pull you into the conversation. Jamie loved the game and the game loved him back. RIP, Jamie Boyd.
