David Scott, pitcher for ADM/Pride, Decatur, IL in their glory days in the 1980’s passed away Wednesday night at his home in Decatur, Illinois, at the age of 62. Scott was a standout among standouts in his day, and will be missed by the large community of fast pitch fans in the Decatur Illinois area as well as others around the world.
Scott was inducted into the ASA’s National Hall of Fame in 2005, having won 595 games pitching for Decatur (ADM and the Pride) and was named the U.S. Olympic Sportsman of the Year in 1982.
A native of Williamsport, Pennsylvania, he pitched in 11 U.S. Olympic Festivals and helped pitch the United States to the 1988 International Softball Federation championship.
MARK TUPPER of the Herald & Review covered Scott’s teams in their heyday, and has a touching tribute column, published yesterday. Read it here.
