A month ago, in Prague, Czech Republic, Argentina won its first ever Men’s World Championship Gold Medal, as champions of the world. A month later, they have claimed another, as champions of the Americas, with a 5-0 win over the USA, which claimed the silver medal. The silver medal was the USA’s second in the past year, having won Bronze last fall at the Pan-Am qualifier. The USA finished with wins over Peru, Cuba and Mexico. The USA’s win over Mexico, by a 7-4 score put the Red, White and Blue into the Pan-Am gold medal final with Argentina. In the game against Mexico, USA was led by starting pitcher Tony Mancha, reliever Duane Weiler, and Erik Ochoa and Jeff Nowaczyk , who both homered.

- Argentina Runs Away With Early Lead In Victory
- USA Men’s National Team fell behind early and couldn’t come back in a 5-0 loss to Argentina on Thursday. Argentina took the lead on a single in the second inning.
- Argentina got on the board in the second inning. Gustavo Oscar Godoy drove in two when he singled.
- A single by Cameron Schiller in the second inning was a positive for USA Men’s National Team.
- Huemul Ezequiel Mata Carabajal pitched Argentina to victory. He allowed two hits and zero runs over seven innings, striking out nine and walking one.
- Duane Weiler took the loss for USA Men’s National Team. He surrendered five runs on eight hits over four and two-thirds innings, striking out eight and walking zero.
- Schiller and Matt Ratliff each managed one hit to lead USA Men’s National Team.
- Godoy went 2-for-2 at the plate to lead Argentina in hits. Argentina was sure-handed and didn’t commit a single error. Bruno Motroni made the most plays with nine.
