From Jesse Ortiz, SCIFL President:
I hope everyone had a wonderful Mother’s Day weekend.
Last week the City of Santa Fe Springs notified us that the West field at Los Nietos Park is still not playable, so they canceled all June and July reservations for the West field. The City is hoping to be able to replace and not just repair the damaged fence and the entire fencing/backstop on that field which will be a long process. I asked the City if they have another field we can use, unfortunately, they do not have any additional fields we can use for the rest of the Alliance tournament. This means the Alliance tournament for May, June, and July will be played with one field with a two (2) game Round Robin format on Saturday followed by a Single Elimination on Sunday. The maximum number of teams that can participate is seven (7), and the cost will be $380.00 which can be paid online or by Zelle using email scifastpitch@gmail.com.
To avoid running late, the games will be 1 hour 20 minutes drop dead on Saturday. Sunday’s single elimination will also be 1 hour 20 minutes no new. The championship game will be 7 innings. Teams waiting to play the following game are expected to be ready to play on time.
Attached is the schedule for this weekend’s tournament which has been posted on our SCIFL website for everyone to view as well.
If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me.
