Celebration of Steve’s Life to be held on April 10

EVERETT – Steve Lnenicka, 72, passed away on Friday, April 1, 2011 in Everett from complications due to lung cancer. He was born February 18, 1939 in Rising City, Nebraska. He was the first of three boys born to Dale and Jean Lnenicka. He was raised in Yakima attending Moxee High School and Yakima Valley College. He served in the U.S. Army from 1958-1962. He married Sandy Peterson on February 9, 1963. Together they raised two children and remained close friends. He worked for Shields Printing in Yakima before moving to Seattle in 1967. He worked for Copeland Lumber in the early 70’s before going to work for Alaska Copper & Brass in 1973. He retired from Alaska Copper & Brass in 2003. Most recently he enjoyed working for Enterprise Rent-A-Car and the Seattle Mariners. Steve loved sports!

He played fastpitch softball for many years. It was during those years he made so many life long friends. He also loved watching his grandchildren play sports, never missing a game. His spirit and joy for sports will live on through his children and grandchildren. Steve was preceded in death by his parents Dale and Jean Lnenicka; his brothers Bill and Mike Lnenicka and his daughter Sonia Lnenicka. He is survived by his son Ron Lnenicka of Lake Stevens; his daughter Lisa VanZanten (Craig) and grandchildren Ali VanZanten (10) and Devin VanZanten (5) of Lynden; his uncle and aunt Marion and Joyce Blank of Yakima; his sister-in-law Susie Blackstock and nephew Brock Lnenicka of Seattle and many other nieces, nephews and cousins. A Celebration of Life will be held on April 10 at 2:00 P.M. at the Nile Golf & Country Club, 6601 244th St. SW, Mountlake Terrace.

Donations may be made to the American Cancer Society. Please sign Steve’s on-line Guest Book at www.Legacy.com.

Editor’s note: Steve was a longtime player in the NW; his brother Bill Lnenicka is in the Yakima Softball Assn Hall of Fame.
