Panfilo Valedez Leads Houston Aces
The Houston Aces started play Saturday morning in the 57th Annual Latin American Tournament. In the round robin format the Aces had 3 games to play at 11 A.M., 1 P.M., and 5 P.M. The results of Saturdays game are as follows.
11 A.M Houston Aces vs Austin Jokers The Aces started off this morning playing the Austin Jokers. Panfilo Valdez took the mound for the Aces in the days first game. The Aces came out cold not mounting much of an offensive attack while Panfilo Valdez threw a great game to keep the score at 0-0 through 7 innings of play. After two more innings of extra play the Jokers finally got a run home with a mandoatroy man on second from international rule. Houston Aces 0 vs Austin Jokers 1 WP – Felipe LP- Valdez ( 8 innings) 1 P.M. Houston Aces vs Beaumont/ Port Aurthur The Aces came into the second game of their back to back set scoring early and often. Pitcher Gabriel Marquez threw a 2 hitter while the Aces kept scorings runs. Pitcher Marquez would not allow any runs in the second game affair. Houston Aces 7 vs Beaumont/ Port Arthur 0 WP – Marquez LP – ?? 5 P.M. Houston Aces vs Diablos In their Final game of pool play the Aces would face the Diablos. Pitching for the Aces was Panfilo Valdez. The Aces kept it going from game 2 of pool play scoring first in the second inning making the game 1-0. In the same inning the Diablos would counter with their own run on a single to right field making it even 1-1. After that the Aces came alive scoring 6 more while Valdez held it down on the mound giving the win to the Aces and ending their day at the fields with a record of 2-1. The Aces are awaiting the final games to finish in order to get seeded in the single elimination bracket of Sundays play.Results of tomorrows play will be given after tournament play is done.
