Elkville Sweeps SIFL Twinbill in Illinois

Elkville Fastpitch swept two games from Makanda’s Davis Auto Center in Southern Illinois Fastpitch League (SIFL) action Wednesday.

Scores were 5-2 and 12-4.

Troy Downen was the winning hurler in the opener with Bryar Funk smacking three hits. Chad Reams and Drew Porter had two safeties each.

Mike Goldman pitched all six innings of the nightcap victory with Porter going 3-for-3 and knocking in three runs.

Barry Maynor added three hits with Lance Bedar, Tim Herring and Greg Winchester all enjoying two-hit efforts.

Waylon Leonard had a three-run triple.

Elkville plays Kelso, Mo. Friday at 8 p.m. to open the Kelso Klassic Tournament. Elkville is 9-3 overall.

Little Muddy/Kuhnert Builders and Alstat Firewood and Lumber split their SIFL twinbill. Little Muddy/Kuhnert’s won the first game, 8-2.

AFL bounced back to salvage game two by an 8-6 count.
