From the host committee’s point of view, it was an exclamation point to an outstanding week of competition as the Aspen Interior Black Sox won the Canadian Senior “A” Men’s fastpitch softball championship Sunday, blanking the Jarvis, Ontario Gamblers 2-0 at Bob Van Impe Park.
Tournament M-V-P Trevor Ethier allowed just three hits in the final and got run support in the second and fifth inning as Aspen reclaimed the title they last won in 2004. Derrell Joy and Dean Holoein drove in the Aspen runs. They won their last six games of the week after finishing second to Jarvis in the 10-team round-robin preliminaries with a 7-2 record.
