A/B Alliance

The Panteras went undefeated on Sunday to take the first tournament of the year in the newly revamped A/B league with strong pitching from Bobby Lara, Jesse Duncan and Ron Rupp. The Panteras were with all their starters on Sunday making it tough for manager Fernie Ramirez to make the line-up’s with the squad that showed up. Big wins in tough played single elimination games over San Diego Primetime and the Black Sox got them in the Championship game. In the Championship game they defeated the new Rude-Pac squad of players from last year’s number 1 & 2 finishers in the Association Championship. Unfortunately, work commitments and injuries left Rude-Pac with only nine players for the game, but they held tough through four innings. More details to follow…

C Alliance

The Palm Springs Express won their first tournament and on their home turf with a 14-12 slugfest against the So Cal Hustlers. In a slugfest with eight runs alone in the first inning, the Express lost the lead twice before scoring five runs in the last two innings and held off the Hustlers who had scored two in the bottom of the seventh and had the tying run on base when the last out was made. Darryl Gorre’s teams lost two in the round robin, one of them to the Hustlers 8 – 5, and were placed third in the pool and an early morning game. With the aid of a forfeit and wins over Latin Heat and the So Cal Rebels on Sunday they advanced to the Championship game. The Hustlers went undefeated in the round robin and won two on Sunday against Santana Concrete and Level One. The Express carry some weight in their hometown as a local radio station announced their victory over the air shortly after the game. More to follow…
