CR/Portland Strikes Gold in Portland

Brian Ree Homers, Terry Luster Picks up Title Game Win

Host CR/Portland won their own tournament, the well-established Rose Cup tournament for the first time Sunday, with a 6-1 win over the So Cal Bombers. Portland made it to the championship game last year, but finished second to the Vancouver Grey Sox. In 2006, however, it was a perfect 7-0 weekend. Brian Ree homered in the championship game, while pitcher Terry Luster picked up the win, over the Bombers’ Travis Price. One imagines that the So Cal Bombers can relate to the satisfaction Portland derived by winning the tournament after finishing second in 2005. The Bombers themselves claimed a title at Red Rock after finishing second there in 2005.

The So Cal Bombers finished with a 6-1 record for second place, while Team Rainey was 5-1 for third place.
