Following the major revamp of the Fastpitchwest.com website last month, some readers have asked what happened to the Fastpitchwest Forum, our reader-driven bulletin board dating back to 2003.
The answer is that it’s still in operation, running “underneath” the new website, and accessible under the “Community” main menu button.. (“mouse over” the “Community” button and the other buttons will drop down – then click the sub-menu button for “Fastpitchwest Forum”
For good measure, you’ll also find a link in the “Links” box on the lower right side of this or any page.
For those of you not familiar with the Fastpitchwest Forum, it is a “bulletin board” where readers can post their fastpitch related announcements, or chat with other users — as we did in the pre-Facebook days.
We’ve considered closing up the Forum when we renovated the site, but reader emails tell me that it’s something that they’d like to see us continue — and so we do. For anyone that might be missing the old olive, grey and black format, you’ll find it there.
Anyone can read the announcements, though you’ll need too create a simple user login to post. One caveat is that we’ve had to lock down the new user sign-up system on “manual” due to spammers who like to create mischief and post links to all things you can imagine. So if you don’t already have a log in, but want one, you’ll need to watch this blog for announcements for the next “Open registration” and sign up while the door is open. Sorry it’s so tedious, but that’s the only way we can prevent the spammers from playing havoc with our site.
It’s not Facebook, but it remains a good place to find or post fastpitch information, including the “free agent” section for players looking for teams or vica versa. California and Illinois are two states that continue to make good use of it.

Jim, Be advised that the ASA “C” National will be held in Prescott, Arizona instead of Tucson. Same dates. Also Prescott is hosting an open tournament July 2-3. Teams can contact Herb Wisdom for more info.
