Fast-pitch softball is thriving in Saskatoon. Both these leagues are the largest of their kind in the country and are envied around the world. Click here for the complete story, and intersting note about the use of pitching machines in youth league.
The article also mentions some players of note:
In the special men’s category, the Saskatoon Sr. Diamondbacks added national-team pitcher, Trevor Ethier, to an already strong staff that featured former national teamer Dean Holoien as well as Jeff Farion, who is a recent addition to Team Canada’s athlete pool. Diamondback shortstop Brennan Pokoyoway was also recently added to our men’s national-team program.
Rumour has it that the league will see the return of Bryan Newton. Newton has been pitching in the United States for the last few years and is part of Don Bates’ national team program’s pitching staff.
