NORMAN, Okla. – Oklahoma pitcher Keilani Ricketts and the USA Softball team begin their 2011 international schedule Saturday at the 2011 Canadian Open FastPitch International Championship in Surrey, British Columbia.
Team USA faces Team Australia on Saturday, July 9, at 5:30 p.m. CT, in the women’s international round robin before playing Team Japan at 10:30 p.m. CT. All games will be played at Softball City in Surrey. Ticket information can be found at USASoftball.com.
Ricketts became the ninth Sooner player to be a part of the USA National or Junior National team program on June 17 after earning a spot on the 2011 national team.
Ricketts helped the Women’s National Team to an 11-0 win over the Women’s Junior National Team on June 29 in one of two exhibition games between the teams. Ricketts pitched three hitless innings with four strikeouts in the win.
Ricketts, a native of San Jose, Calif., finished her sophomore season with a 29-15 record and helped lead the seventh-ranked Sooners back to the Women’s College World Series for the first time since 2004. A first-team All-America selection by the National Fastpitch Coaches Association, Ricketts also earned first-team All-Region and All-Big 12 honors. She was named NFCA National Player of the Week on May 10.
