MOUNT Isa softballer Jayson Morgan made 2011 a year to remember.
The talented 16-year-old began the year by being part of the Queensland U17 team who won the inaugural Australian Under 17 Boys Softball Championships in Adelaide.

Queensland assistant coach Lexie Pearce said the efforts of Morgan along with fellow Mount Isa softballers Matthew Hovi and Brett Loccisano helped secure the result.

Incredibly the side amassed the impressive statistics of 112 runs for and just 14 against during the sides 10 games.

Morgan was then selected in an Australian U19 squad to compete at the Softball International Youth Cup held in Sydney in July.

The tournament also doubled as a selection trial for a place on the U19 Aussie Colts team to head to Argentina for the IV International Men’s Softball Tournament.

With an outstanding pitching display in Sydney, Morgan found himself on the plane to South America in September.

As a valuable member of the Colts side, Morgan once more returned with the taste of success when the Aussies defeated Panama in the final.

While in Argentina, Morgan missed the U19 state titles where he would have been part of Mount Isa’s victorious side who won a tough battle against Toowoomba in the final.

However, despite his absence Morgan was selected to the U19 Queensland team. Click here for the complete story.
