Team Canada blanks Argentina at Pan American Championship
(Medellin, Colombia) The Canadian Men’s National Team kept rolling at the Pan American Championship as they improved their record to 6-0 with a 3-0 shutout victory over Argentina. Don Scott (Stratford, ON) pitched the complete game win, scattering three hits and striking out two. He faced only two batters over the limit.
Canada scored the first run of the game in the bottom of the second inning as Mark Johnson (Glencoe, ON) led off with a triple and quickly scored on a passed ball. In the third, Brandon Horn (Waterloo, ON) singled and moved up to third on a single by Stephen Mullaley (Freshwater, NL), and scored on a single by Jeff Ellsworth (St. Lawrence, PEI) to give Canada a 2-0 lead. In the bottom of the sixth, Andy Skelton (Newmarket, ON) singled with one out, advanced to second on a ground out by Bryan Abrey (Richmond, BC) and scored on a two-out single by Ryan Boland (St. John’s, NL). That was all the scoring Canada needed as Scott shut down Argentina in order to end the game.
Team Canada will play two more games tomorrow, first against Mexico at 9:00am CDT followed by Venezuela at 2:00pm.
