Selects win Eastern Canada ISC under-21 tournament

KITCHENER – KITCHENER — Cody Skelton, Craig Lyons and Adam Stuck hit back-to-back-to-back homers to power the Owen Sound Selects to a 10-2 win over the Wiarton Red Devils on Sunday in the final of the International Softball Congress Canada East Under-21 championships.

Adam Stuck had a two-run shot for Owen Sound while Hall added a three-run blast.

Charlie Maulson homered for the R’Devils.

Michael Legace-Roote earned the win for Owen Sound. His pitching stats were unavailable.

Travis Jones and Andy Barber combined for 12 hits and three walks while striking out four.

The win qualifies Owen Sound for the 2013 ISC Under-21 Championships which run Aug. 15 to 17 in Quad Cities, Illinois.

Owen Sound scored five runs in the fifth to beat the Tavistock Merchants 7-5 in semifinal play on Sunday.

Greg Hammell allowed five hits and two walks while striking out eight in the win.

Tavistock pitchers Quin Kropf and Brady Wagler gave up eight hits and three walks while striking out six in the loss.

Hammell also chipped in with two singles and three RBIs while Skelton homered and doubled in the win.

Owen Sound downed Caledonia 8-0 by default in quarterfinal action on Saturday night.

the Selects were 3-0 in round-robin play.

Owen Sound beat St. Mary’s 13-5 on Saturday.

Hammell allowed a hit and two walks while striking out six.

St. Mary’s Andrew Pearn and Matt Eidt combined to allow 10 hits and five walks while striking out one.

Hall and Hammell both had two-run homers for Owen sound.

Legace-Roote earned the win in a 9-0 shutout of Keady on Saturday. Nick Yeh took the loss.

Owen Sound downed Elmira 5-0 on Friday.

Legace-Roote gave up five hits and a walk while striking out 12.

Elmira’s Tim Wright gave up five hits and three walks in the loss.

Stuck and Hammell both had two RBIs for Owen Sound.

The R’Devils beat the Stratford Cubs 7-2 in semifinal play on Sunday.

Ty Sebastian gave up two runs on three hits while striking out four over four innings. Barber allowed two hits and a walk while striking out four in three innings of relief.

Stratford’s Tyler Granderson gave up 10 hits and two walks while striking out six.

Maulson had three singles and an RBI for Wiarton while Barber had two doubles and two runs batted in.

Sebastian allowed a hit and two walks while striking out 12 in a 6-0 win over the Elmira 37’s on Sunday in quarterfinal play.

Sebastian had a homer and three RBIs in the win.

Wiarton was also 3-0 in round-robin action.

Wiarton also downed the Caledonia Royals 13-3 in five innings on Saturday.

Sebastian allowed two hits and four walks while striking out four in four innings. Barber stuck out two in an inning of relief.

Caledonia pitchers Sawyer Stone and Chris Henwood teamed up to allow 10 hits and six walks while striking out nine.

Jones homered, drove in three runs and scored four.

Barber was two-four-four with four RBIs.

Barber allowed two hits while striking out six in a 4-1 win over Stratford on Saturday.

Stratford’s George Armstrong gave up seven hits and a walk while striking out eight.

Maulson had a homer and two RBIs.

Sebastian earned the win in relief in a 9-8 victory over Tavistock on Saturday.

Sebastian gave up three hits while striking out three in four innings of relief.

Jones gave up seven runs on four hits and two walks while striking out two in four innings.

Tavistock’s Quin Kropf gave up eight hits and a walk while striking out five in the loss.

Barber had a homer and two RBIs in the win.

Keady fell to Tavistock in the quarterfinals on Sunday morning.

Game details were unavailable.

The Jets were 2-1 in round-robin play.

Keady beat the Elmira 37’s 9-4 on Saturday.

Ryan Hepburn allowed four runs on six hits while striking out five in five-and-two-thirds of an inning. Luke White walks four in an inning and a third of relief.

Elmira’s Greg Livingston and Dan Marche combined to give up nine hits and three walks while striking out three.

Ty Crawford had two triples and drove in four runs for the Jets while Hepburn had a double and drove in two.

Keady opened with an 11-4 win over St. Mary’s on Friday.

Hepburn gave up seven hits while striking out seven in the win.

St. Mary’s Eidt and Pearn gave up 10 hits and four walks while striking out three.

Hepburn was two-for-two with a homer while Mike Loucks also homered for the Jets.
