With only two days to go at the 2013 ISC World tournament, it’s down to the Elite Eight, with only two of those still unbeaten, the # 1 ranked New York Gremlins and the #3 ranked Hill United (Six nations). The world’s top eight teams square off today, for a chance to win a World Championship tomorrow.

In Winner’s bracket semi-finals last night, the # 1 ranked New York Gremlins beat #4 ranked PA Power, with Andrew Kirkpatrick picking up the win in relief of Sean Whitten, over Juan Potolicchio. Travis Wilson drove home Rhys Casley and Derek Pukash in the 6th for the 2 run margin of victory, breaking the 1-1 tie.

In the other winner’s semi, it was the #3 ranked Hill United (Six Nations) topping the #2 ranked Jarvis Hallman Twins, 6-4, with three pitchers on each side seeing duty. Hill United notched 4 runs in a wild second inning, on 2 hits, an error and wild pitch, then hung on, despite a furious 4 run rally by Jarvis Hallman in the 6th. Ian Fehrman drove in 2 of the runs in the 6th.

Meanwhile, in the Loser’s bracket, it was the # 6 ranked California A’s eliminating the #9 ranked Minnesota Angels, with Derek Mayson picking up the win, over Australian Andrew Blackshaw. Kevin Schellenberg, Nate Devine and Josh Johnson driving in two runs each.

The Kegel Black Knights brought the unranked Houston Carnage’s surprising run to an end.

Tournament Cinderella, #21 ranked Bloomington Styx continued their winning ways, eliminating Venezuela, which played well in their first ISC World Tournament.

#5 ranked Scarborough Force put on a convincing display of offense and pitching, in a 10-0, 5 inning rout of Circle Tap of Wisconsin. Scarborough’s Don Scott tossed a 5 inning no-hitter.

Circle Tap’s high point in the tournament was their second round upset of the California A’s, in which Robbie Schweyer no-hit the California squad.
