ROCKHAMPTON’S Dan Giles has only been playing softball for five years but he’s already received a call that may change his young playing career.
Make that an email, actually.
The 18-year-old catcher has been selected to take part in the Open Men’s Asian International Softball Tournament as a representative for the Australian Development Team.
While thrilled to get the nod to wear the renowned green and gold, Giles certainly wasn’t anticipating his name to be called upon.
“I received an email from the team telling me I had been selected,” he said.
“I’m very, very excited. But it definitely was quite unexpected.”
Giles will join an Australian squad mixed with current national representatives and other up and coming players from around the country.
Teams from Japan, Philippines, Malaysia, Thailand, Hong Kong and Singapore will compete in Singapore from August 12-19. Click here to continue reading at The Morning Bulletin.
