From ISC Canada East
Congratulations to Pete Chambers, Larry Withnell and the rest of the Waterdown Hammer on a well deserved victory in the 2015 ISC Canada East Qualifier this weekend.
With stormy weather washing out all but two of the games on Sunday, the Hammer were declared champions following their convincing 9-2 win in the winner’s bracket final game Saturday night against Great Lakes Pirates.
The Hammer receive a paid berth + travel money to the 2015 ISC World Tournament in South Bend, Indiana. Also qualifying are Great Lakes Pirates, Wiarton Nationals and Kitchener Cubs. Any additional invites will be made this week.
We want to thank our host committee, the Springfield Brewers Minor Softball Association, led by Chris Cox and Mark McCallum. Great diamonds, fantastic food, cold beverages and capable volunteers all help make a tournament better!
Special thanks to ISC Statistician and soon-to-be Hall of Famer Gary Baughman for producing game summaries and a full stats package for the tournament. Gary does it for the love of the game and we appreciate his work! Thanks also to Al Doran for posting scores and retweeting photos all weekend. Our UiC this weekend was Ed Otterman and he put together a great Blue Crew of Brad Whalen, Mike Nalysnyk, Trevor Topping, Fred Malaches, George Lemaich, Rob Straetmans, Paul Baier and Justin Van Horn. Terrific work all weekend from this group – thank you!
