The Toronto Gators survived and advanced once again, notching their sixth consecutive win in the loser’s bracket of the 2015 ISC World Tournament Saturday morning, topping the New York Gremlins, 4-3 in extra innings.
The Gator’s Frank Pointon (Christchurch New Zealand) had the game winning home run, a solo shot in the top of the 9th inning, while Kyle Linton was outstanding in relief of starter Sean Cleary, getting a number of strikeouts to pitch out of tight spots in the extra frames, including a full count bases loaded jam in the 8th inning. Linton picked up the win, tossing 3 shutout innings, with 6 strikeouts.
Thomas Enoka of the Gators had drove in three of the four runs for the Gators, with two hits on the day. Jeff Goolagong drove in two with a home run for the Gremlins.
The Gators will move on to the Loser’s bracket final against the A1 Bombers of Cambridge Massachusets, who suffered their first loss last night against the two-time defending champions, the Hill United Chiefs.
The game between the Toronto Gators and A1 Bombers was scheduled to start at 2pm EDT (11AM on the west coast), but will start after 3PM EDT (12noon on the west coast) due to the first game running long.
The winner of the Gators and A1 Bombers will then face the unbeaten Hill United Chiefs in a one-game-winner-take-all championship game at 7PM EDT (4PM on the west coast)
