After staking the Toronto Gators to a 4 run lead in the first inning, Hill United did something they don’t have to do very often — they came from behind, to beat the Toronto Gators and capture their third straight ISC World Tournament title.
The Gator’s Brad Rona and Wayne Laulu each drove in two runs, with Laulu’s coming on a home run. After being roughed up for 4 runs in the first, Hill United’s starter Adam Folkard pitched brilliantly, surrendering only three hits, while striking out 14, getting stronger as the game progressed.
With the Chiefs trailing 4-2 in the 6th, Jason Hill struck the big blow, a three-run home run after Jeff Ellsworth and Steve Mullaley had reached based, putting the Chiefs on top byh a 5-4 margin. A wild pitch gave the Chiefs an insurance run, and the 6-4 lead.
Adam Folkard was the winning pitcher, while Sean Cleary took the loss, coming on to start the 5th inning in relief of Kyle Linton, who was gave up two runs, on one hit, while striking out 6.
