From Team USA, by Paul Bowker: The USA Softball National Team Selection Camp begins Sunday at Bill Barber Park in Irvine, California.
Among the 41 invitees are Michelle Moultrie, a World Cup of Softball gold medalist and former SEC Player of the Year at the University of Florida; Jessica Moore, a World Cup gold medalist and Pac-12 Pitcher of the Year at Oregon; Jaclyn Traina, World Cup gold medalist and MVP of the 2012 Women’s College World Series at Alabama; Samantha Fischer, World Cup gold medalist and All-American at Loyola Marymount; Madilyn Nickles, a high school senior from Merced, California, who was the only high school junior on the 2015 USA Softball Junior National Team.
They will be trying to win spots on the 17-member Women’s National Team. Among the tournaments on the 2016 calendar are the World Cup of Softball XI, WBSC Women’s World Championship and Japan Cup.
