2016 WBSC Jr. Men’s World Championship at Midland, Michigan
The USA Jr. Men will regroup Monday morning, after a tough 6-5 loss to defending gold medal champions, Argentina. The USA scored 4 runs in the first inning and 1 more in the second to jump out to a 5-0 lead, but were unable to hold off surging Argentina. Argentina scored 1 in the fourth, four in the 5th and took the lead for good with one more in the 6th. Five USA errors contributed to the loss.
The USA v. Botswana game is actually Game # 1 of the tournament, but was rained out yesterday morning, so being played early Monday.
Botswana is coming off an opening day victory over Denmark, an 8-1 5 inning affair in which they scored in every inning. Botswana’s Gideon Puakaa threw a no-hitter for the win.

Great pitching leads USA past BOT 14-0

BTSW 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 2 3A magnificent effort by Zane Chason hoisted USA to a 14-0 win in six innings over BOT on Monday at Field #1.
Chason’s 13 strikeouts helped USA to the victory. USA’s pitcher gave up just two hits over six shutout innings.
USA’s bats came to life in the sixth inning. BOT had no answer as USA scored nine runs. USA scored in the sixth on An RBI single by Matthew Martin, an error, an error, an RBI single by Bryce DuCharme, an RBI single by Brady Parker, a two-run single by Devin Martin, and a two-run single by Martin.
Martin racked up four RBIs on three hits for USA.
Samuel Kunyalala was charged with the loss. He allowed nine runs in 5 1/3 innings, walked two and struck out eight.
USA didn’t relinquish the lead after scoring two runs in the first inning when it scored on An error.
USA built upon its lead with two runs in the fourth. Martin’s single got things going, plating Jeff Lewis. That was followed up by Jonathan Broadbear’s single, scoring Martin.
