2016 ISC WT – No hitter for Huemul Mata as NE Drillers advance in loser’s bracket

The NE Drillers and ace Huemul Mata rebounded Tuesday after a heartbreaking 14 inning loss to the BC A’s Monday, with a 1-0 win over The Bar of the Avenue, with Mata tossing a no-hitter while striking out 14. Mata faced just one batter over the minimum, as The Bar’s lone baserunner reaching on an error in the 5th.

Donnelley Archibald scored the only run of the game in the 7th inning on an infield error. The Bar’s starter Martin Gonzalez went the distance, giving up only 4 hits and no walks, while striking out 9.
