Host Czech Republic tops Denmark on 3-run, 7th inning HR at ICC in Prague

Game winning homers in the 7th inning seem to be the order of the day at the 2018 Intercontinental Cup at Prague, Czech Republic.  Earlier in the day, it was Jonathan Lynch hitting a walk-off 2 run shot to propel the USA to a 5-4 victory over Argentina.

Václav Svoboda saves the day for Czech Republic

In the “Battle for Europe”, Denmark led 2-0 on Martin Simonsen’s 2 run homer in the 5th.  Denmark’s Kim Hansen took the shutout into the 7th.

The Czechs started the top of the 7th with a single and a walk, before Hansen got the next two batters, on a fly out and a strikeout.    But fate would strike, as Václav Svoboda launched a 3 run home run to give the Czech Republic a 3-2 lead, and 3 outs later, the win.  Michal HOLOBRADEK went the distance for the Czech Republic to pick up the win, scattering 6 hits and striking out 11, while Hansen tossed a 3 hitter, and struck out 10 in the losing effort.
