Jonathan Lynch and Eric Ochoa with 2 HR’s each for USA
USA Softball Men’s National Team stayed in it until the end, but Japan pulled away late in a 10-7 victory on Friday. The game was tied at four with Japan batting in the top of the fifth when Yusuke Itose singled on a 1-0 count, scoring one run.
USA Softball Men’s National Team collected nine hits and Japan had 16 in the high-scoring affair.
USA Softball Men’s National Team fired up the offense in the first inning, when Jonathan Lynchhit a solo homer.
In the top of the fourth inning, Japan tied things up at four. Ryoyu Une drove in one when he singled.
After Japan scored three runs in the top of the seventh, USA Softball Men’s National Teamanswered with three of their own. Japan scored when Tsukasa Oishi singled on a 0-1 count, scoring one run and Seii Kuroiwa singled on a 0-1 count, scoring two runs. USA Softball Men’s National Team then answered when Lynch hit a solo homer, Erick Ochoa hit a solo homer, and Derrick Kennedy singled on a 1-2 count, scoring one run.
Japan scored four runs in the fourth inning. Japan batters contributing to the big inning included Itose, Kuroiwa, and Une, all driving in runs in the inning.
Mizuki Terabaru earned the victory in the pitcher’s circle for Japan. He allowed two hits and zero runs over three innings, striking out two and walking one. Yuya Yamawaki and Takuro Kawanoentered the game out of the bullpen and helped to close out the game in relief.
Tony Mancha took the loss for USA Softball Men’s National Team. He allowed eight hits and six runs over four innings, striking out seven and walking one.
Takuya Kyakuno started the game for Japan. He allowed four hits and four runs over two innings, striking out two and walking one
USA Softball Men’s National Team hit four home runs on the day. Lynch had a four bagger in the first and seventh innings. Ochoa had a long ball in the second and seventh innings.
USA Softball Men’s National Team scattered nine hits in the game. Lynch, Ochoa, and Kennedyall had multiple hits for USA Softball Men’s National Team. Lynch led USA Softball Men’s National Team with three hits in four at bats.
Japan tallied 16 hits in the game. Kuroiwa, Une, Itose, and Oishi each collected multiple hits for Japan. Kuroiwa went 4-for-5 at the plate to lead Japan in hits. Japan was sure-handed and didn’t commit a single error. Une made the most plays with six.
