#6 California JB rallies on 3 HR to upset #2 New York Gremlins, head to Winner’s Final Tonight

The #2 ranked New York Gremlins looked to be headed back to familiar territory — the Winner’s Bracket Final on Thursday night, taking a 4-2 lead into the 6th inning against the upstart California team from Agoura Hills, JB. The Gremlins scored three runs in the second inning, though JB kept it close, scoring two in the bottom of the 3rd. The Gremlins scored an insurance run in the top of the 5th, while NY ace Andrew Kirkpatrick pitched a scoreless bottom of the 5th.
But in the bottom of the 5th, JB struck twice, on back to back homers by JB Catcher Rafael Flores, and Juan Villalvaza, to tie the game 4-4 and swinging the momentum to JB.

Hard throwing New Zealander Josh Petit entered the game in relief, to get the final two outs of the inning.
The NY Gremlins put a couple of runners aboard in the top of the 7th, but did not score, setting the stage for the dramatic finish.
Ishmael Pena led off the 7th with the game winning home run, his second of the night and fourth home run for JB, and the 5-4 come-from-behind victory.

Peña Oscuna’s Walk-Off Picture Perfect Ending In JB’s Victory Over NY Gremlins
A walk-off home run propelled JB to a decisive, dramatic victory over NY Gremlins, 5-4. The game was tied at four with JB batting in the bottom of the seventh when Ismael Peña Oscuna hit a solo homer.
JB earned the victory despite allowing NY Gremlins to score three runs in the second inning. Zenon Winters and Jerome Raemaki all contributed in the big inning with RBIs.
NY Gremlins got things started in the second inning. Winters homered on a 0-1 count, scoring two runs.
In the bottom of the sixth inning, JB tied things up at four when Juan Carlos Villalvazo Peña hit a solo homer.
Maximiliano Montero earned the win for JB. The bulldog surrendered zero runs on two hits over two and two-thirds innings, striking out two.
Joshua Pettett took the loss for NY Gremlins. The hurler allowed one hit and one run over two-thirds of an inning, striking out one and walking zero.
Roman Alejandro Godoy Herbel started the game for JB. The fireballer allowed seven hits and four runs over four and a third innings, striking out four Andrew Kirkpatrick started the game for NY Gremlins. The pitcher surrendered four runs on seven hits over five and a third innings, striking out six and walking zero
JB launched four home runs on the day. Rafael Angel Flores Sanchez had a long ball in the sixth inning. Peña Oscuna went yard in the third and seventh innings. Villalvazo Peña had a homer in the sixth inning.
Peña Oscuna led JB with three hits in four at bats. JB was sure-handed in the field and didn’t commit a single error. Villalvazo Peña had the most chances in the field with eight.
NY Gremlins totaled nine hits. Benjamin Enoka and Raemaki each had multiple hits for NY Gremlins. Enoka went 3-for-4 at the plate to lead NY Gremlins in hits.
