Justin Schofield brought his “A” game to the opening game of the 2022 Men’s Canadian Championships at St. John’s NL Wednesday morning, tossing a no-hit shutouf against a strong Sooke Logger team from British Columbia, striking out 18. The game started in the very early morning (4:30am) for those of us on the West Coast. Details below, from Game Changer.
Schofield Earns Victory For NS East Hants Mastodons In No-Hitter Against BC Sooke Loggers
Justin Schofield was brilliant on the rubber on Wednesday, as Schofield threw a no-hitter to lead NS East Hants Mastodons past BC Sooke Loggers 2-0.
The pitching was strong on both sides. Schofield struck out 18, while Brady Woods sat down 12.
NS East Hants Mastodons got things started in the first inning when Travis Jones singled on the first pitch of the at bat, scoring one run.
Schofield was the winning pitcher for NS East Hants Mastodons. Schofield surrendered zero runs on zero hits over seven innings, striking out 18.
Woods took the loss for BC Sooke Loggers. The bulldog allowed five hits and two runs over six innings, striking out 12 and walking one.
Jones went 2-for-3 at the plate to lead NS East Hants Mastodons in hits. NS East Hants Mastodons was sure-handed in the field and didn’t commit a single error. Patrick Stewart had the most chances in the field with 18.
