Rainouts Made Up Tuesday
Day 3 games were rained out.
Kudos to ISC Commish in British Columbia, Rich Haldane for his work on the revised schedule of games rained out on Monday. Doubleheaders were the order of the day on Tuesday, but by Wednesday, the regular tournament schedule was back on track.
Two Teams into the Winner’s Bracket Final Four
Two teams have qualified for the Winner’s Bracket Final Four, the #1 ranked New York Gremlins and #4 ranked Bear Creek Express. Both teams won two games on Tuesday, have an off day on Wednesday, and will square off against each other on Thursday evening.
Winner’s Bracket Elite Eight
The winner’s bracket Elite Eight, by the numbers:
#1 New York Gremlins, #9 Toronto Batmen, #4 Bear Creek Express, #5 Circle Tap Dukes, #2 Niagara Stompers, #7 AWP Lumberjacks, #3 Hill United and …………the giant slayer, #27 ranked RM Kurtz Enterprises.
So that’s #1, #2, #3, #4, #5, #7, #9, and #27. Top 8 teams not making the Elite 8: #6 JB and #8 Grand Prairie Pirates.
From that group, three suffered losses on Tuesday, #9 ranked Toronto Batmen to the #1 ranked New York Gremlins and #5 ranked (host) Circle Tap to #4 ranked Bear Creek Express.
Upset of the Day – #27 ranked RM Kurtz 2, # 11 ranked OMMA Tigres 1
For the second day in a row, #27 ranked RM Kurtz Enterprises of Ephreta, PA earned honors for the biggest upset, this one another pitching gem, a 2-1 win over the #11 ranked OMMA Tigres of Monterrey Mexico, following their a 3-1 win over # 6 ranked JB of Agoura, California on Sunday.
While most of the ranking committee’s picks have been prevailing over lower ranked opponents, it’s fair to say that they missed RM Kurtz Enterprises with a #27 ranking. RM Kurtz has become the giant-slayer.

Neither team mustered much offense in this game. Junior Flores posted the only heat for the OMMA Tigres, a third inning solo home run, while RM Kurtz had only two hits, scoring both of their runds on wild pitches. Kurtz’s Derrick Martin picked up the win, pitching 4 and 2/3rd innings, striking out 7. Nahuel Saenz was the tough luck loser, going the distance, while striking out 5 in the loss.
Once again, it was RM Kurtz’s Erik Chapparo playing the hero, breaking a 1-1 tie in the 5th inning, with a triple, coming home to score on a wild pitch for the game winner. Chapparo also threw 2 and a third innings of scoreless relief, to earn the save. (Chapparo was the winning pitcher in earlier upset win over #6 JB of Agoura Hills California, and homered in that contest).
