New York Gremlins and Hill United Go 3-0 to Capture Pool Play Top Seeds

The New York Gremlins and Hill United Chiefs won their games Friday morning to finish Pool Play with perfect 3-0 records.?The Gremlins defeated the Toronto Batmen 6-0, while Hill United topped Miami, 7-0.

The Toronto Batmen played the Gremlins tough through the first four innings, behind the pitching of left hander Dustin Veenhoff, who held the powerful New York offense to just one run on three hits (matching his outing against the Gremlins in last year’s ISC World Tournament).?But the Gremlins broke out for 5 runs in the 5th inning against reliever Kirk Santela.?Jerome Raemaki, Cole Evans, Blake Hunter, and Cole Evans all hit doubles in the winning effort.?Gremlins newcomer, pitcher Kuba Osicka from Czechia picked up the win, tossing 5 shutout innings while striking out 8.?Jack Besgrove picked up the save, striking out 6 in two innings.

Playoff games began Friday afternoon and will continue through the conclusion of the tournament Saturday afternoon.

The Hill United Chiefs topped Miami, 7-0 on Friday, with winning pitcher Michael Holobradek picking up the win, tossing 4 shutout innings, striking out 6 on a 2-hitter.?Roman Godoy picked up the save, striking out 5 in 2 innings of work.?Offensively for Hill United, Brad Ezekiel went 2 for 3, including a solo home to centerfield in the 6th.?Bruno Motroni doubled home a run in the first for the Chiefs.

The two teams, Hill United and Miami are scheduled for a rematch at 10am Saturday in a playoff game.
