Argentina has successfully defended their Men’s Softball Pan American Championship title by defeating Venezuela 4-3 in a thrilling final held in Sincelejo, Colombia. Along with Argentina and Venezuela, Guatemala, Colombia, and the Dominican Republic have also qualified for the upcoming WBSC Men’s Softball World Cup, which will begin with the group stage this summer. Argentina’s center fielder Teo Migliavacca, who was the tournament’s top hitter with a .611 batting average, played a crucial role in the final by hitting a home run. Despite Venezuela’s late comeback attempt in the seventh inning, Argentina’s pitcher Nahuel Saenz secured the victory by retiring the final two batters.
The WBSC Men’s Softball World Cup will commence this year with the group stage. Group A will take place in Hermosillo, Mexico, from 12-16 June, followed by Group B in Prince Albert, Canada (10-14 July) and Group C in Oklahoma City, USA (17-21 September).
The top two teams in each group’s final standings, plus two wild cards, will move to the WBSC Men’s Softball World Cup Finals, to be staged in Prince Albert in July 2025.
