LENNY VILLALVAZO drove in four runs on two hits to lead HILL UNITED CHIEFS past Team New Zealand 7-1 on Sunday. In the first inning, LENNY VILLALVAZO hit a grand slam to center field.
MARCO DIAZ struck out 10 batters on the day. They also gave up three hits and one run over seven innings while walking none.
Wayne Laula hit a solo home run to right field in the bottom of the second for the Team New Zealand.
HILL UNITED CHIEFS added to their early lead in the top of the third inning after TONY GONZALEZ doubled, and JOSH MCGOVERN singled, each scoring one run.
Rona Pita took the loss for Team New Zealand. He went four innings, giving up two runs on three hits, striking out three and walking one. Nik Hayes led things off in the circle for Team New Zealand. Hayes surrendered two hits and four runs over one inning, striking out none and walking four.
SHANE BOLAND led HILL UNITED CHIEFS with three walks. Overall, the team had a strong eye at the plate, amassing six walks for the game. HILL UNITED CHIEFS didn’t commit a single error in the field. TONY GONZALEZ had the most chances in the field with nine.
Tane Mumu, Wayne Laula, and Cole Evans each collected one hit for Team New Zealand. Wayne Laulu led Team New Zealand with one run batted in. Laulu went 1-for-2 on the day. Team New Zealand turned two double plays in the game. Team New Zealand were sure-handed in the field and didn’t commit a single error. Tane Mumu had the most chances in the field with eight.
HILL UNITED CHIEFS will travel to Ostrander Norsemen for their next game on Friday.
