Jack Besgrove was dominant in the circle, as the starting pitcher rang up 11 strikeouts in NY Gremlins’s 9-0 victory over Midland Explorers on Monday. Besgrove gave up zero hits and zero runs over four innings while walking three.
NY Gremlins opened the scoring in the second after Bryan Abrey homered to center field, scoring two runs.
NY Gremlins added three more runs in the bottom of the third inning on three hits. Lucio Retamar homered to center field, scoring two runs, and Ladislao Malarczuk doubled, scoring one run.
Kyle Linton took the loss for Midland Explorers. The starting pitcher went two and one-third innings, allowing five runs on six hits, striking out two and walking three. Kuba Osi?ka threw one inning of shutout ball for NY Gremlins in relief. The reliever gave up zero hits, striking out two and walking none.
Abrey, the number eight hitter for NY Gremlins, led the way with three runs batted in. The infielder went 2-for-3 on the day. Abelardo Penuelas led NY Gremlins with three hits in three at bats. Ben Enoka collected two hits for NY Gremlins in two at bats. Nick Mullins paced NY Gremlins with two walks. Overall, the team had patience at the plate, accumulating four walks for the game. NY Gremlins were sure-handed and didn’t commit a single error. Mullins made the most plays with 13.
