Grande Prairie Pirates were triumphant over AWP Lumberjacks 6-5 on Monday. A solo home run to left field by Keagan Arcand put Grande Prairie Pirates on the board in the top of the second. Federico Olheiser scored after tagging up, which helped AWP Lumberjacks tie the game at one in the bottom of the second. A double by Codi Pannebecker gave AWP Lumberjacks the lead, 2-1, in the bottom of the third.
Grande Prairie Pirates made the score 4-3 in the top of the sixth inning when Derek Mayson hit a solo home run to right field, and Kevin Schellenberg singled, scoring one run. Grande Prairie Pirates made the score 6-4 in the top of the seventh after Arcand singled, scoring two runs, and Scott Galenza drew a walk, scoring one run. Liam Potts pitched five innings in relief for Grande Prairie Pirates. The reliever gave up six hits and three runs while, striking out five and walking one.
Riley Manion stepped in the circle first for Grande Prairie Pirates. The starting pitcher surrendered three hits and two runs over two innings, striking out none and walking two. Brad Kilpatrick opened the game for AWP Lumberjacks. He surrendered eight hits and three runs over five and two-thirds innings, striking out six and walking one. Grande Prairie Pirates amassed 12 hits in the game. Arcand provided pop in the middle of the lineup, and led Grande Prairie Pirates with three runs batted in. He went 2-for-4 on the day. Number nine hitter, Schellenberg, showed the depth of Grande Prairie Pirates’s lineup, by leading them with three hits in four at bats. Kris Walushka, Mayson, and Patrick Burns each collected multiple hits for Grande Prairie Pirates. Grande Prairie Pirates turned one double play in the game. Grande Prairie Pirates didn’t commit a single error in the field. Cory Jones had the most chances in the field with nine. Pannebecker, Valdy Terkelsen, Fede Eder, and Frank Kimlinger each collected two hits for AWP Lumberjacks. Ivan Sacks, Pannebecker, Olheiser, Terkelsen, and Kimlinger each drove in one run for AWP Lumberjacks.
