Chiefs Take Lead in Top of 7th, But Drillers Score Two for the Win

It came down to the wire on Thursday in a Winner’s Bracket Semi-Final Matchup as the NorthEast Drillers grabbed the victory in walk-off fashion, 4-3, over HILL UNITED CHIEFS. The game was tied at three in the bottom of the seventh when an error scored one run.
Huemul Mata struck out 14 batters on the day. The right-handed pitcher also gave up four hits and three runs over seven innings while walking three. A solo home run to center field by Teo Migliavacca put NorthEast Drillers on the board in the bottom of the first.
Blake Underwood hit a solo home run to center field in the bottom of the second for the NorthEast Drillers.
BRADLEY EZEKIEL homered to center field, which helped HILL UNITED CHIEFS tie the game at two in the top of the third.
A single by PIPILO (EDGAR) LOPEZ gave HILL UNITED CHIEFS the lead, 3-2, in the top of the seventh. NorthEast Drillers 18O took the lead in the bottom of the seventh inning after Marshall Kronk singled, and HILL UNITED CHIEFS committed an error, each scoring one run.
MARCO DIAZ opened the game for HILL UNITED CHIEFS. The starting pitcher allowed six hits and four runs (three earned) over six and two-thirds innings, striking out nine and walking five. Leadoff hitter Migliavacca led NorthEast Drillers with two hits in three at bats. Underwood and Migliavacca each drove in one run for NorthEast Drillers.
NorthEast Drillers had a strong eye at the plate, amassing five walks for the game. NorthEast Drillers were sure-handed in the field and didn’t commit a single error. Juan Zara had the most chances in the field with 15. EZEKIEL led HILL UNITED CHIEFS with two runs batted in. The outfielder went 1-for-3 on the day. HILL UNITED CHIEFS’s LOPEZ, the number eight hitter, led HILL UNITED CHIEFS with two hits in three at bats.
