I knew 7 years ago that this moment would come – at some point. But that does not take away any of the sting I feel as I compose this email.
I am writing this email, to notify the softball world that the World Fastball Invitational in Monkton has played it’s final games…
After much consideration and attempts to keep this world-class event “the” stop on the major mens fastpitch circuit, I felt the need to inform all of those around the globe that have come to know, and love this tournament.
There are a few factors that have contributed to this decision, and none are a surprise to me, but there’s no need to elaborate or go into details at this time.
I will write-up a more detailed and heartfelt note and forward to Al in the near future…

We were fortunate to have the opportunity to attend and cover the last Monkton Tournament in 2009. The town and tournament were unlike any other, a truly World caliber event.
To Brian Ballie, and all of the many people that went into the planning and production of the Monkton tournament, we say “well done, we will miss you.”
