We regret to announce the passing of former Long Beach Nitehawk Walt Polk. Walt was a player and catcher for the Long Beach Nighthawks and Culver City Comets. He had the opportunity to catch the great ones such as Don Sarno, Joe Lynch, and Gale Wood and play with many of the all time greats.
From son Stephen Polk:
“I had the privilege of tagging along with Dad to all his games back in the 60’s. It was there that I learned the great game of fast pitch softball and later to a career as a pitching and hitting coach. Dad loved the Nitehawks and Comets and we would often to this day talk about those days. Dad is now safe at home.”
