Portland Tops Cali-Mex in 2011 Bakersfield Silverhawk Invitational Finale – May 14-15, 2011

ASA C Championship (lower division)

The Rez Dogs rallied for 3 in the 7th to beat Savala 4-3 in the ASA C finale.

Upper Division, Single Elimination Playoffs

In upper division action, the host Bakersfield Silverhawks eliminated IAC 3-0, with Rob Schweyer tossing a 9 strikeout shutout. Schweyer got relief help in the final frame from Andrew Putnam, who ended the game with a bases loaded strikeout. Jeremy Tracy was 2-3, driving in a run while teammate Kris Waverick drove in two.

Semi-finals

Portland eliminated the Cal State Builders in a 2-1 pitcher’s duel, with Travis Price besting Kevin Kammueller, getting relief help from Sebastian Gervasutti.

Cali-Mex’s Cory Avery and Silverhawks Jeremy Tracy both struck out 7 for their respective teams, but it was the Cali-Mex offense that made the difference, with Saldado and Romo homering and Pena tripling for Cali-Mex in their 4-0 win.

Portland will face Cali-Mex in the finals at 1:30pm
