OASA Championship, Great Lakes tournament, New Dundee Ontario (KW Cubs over Wellington in final)

Kitchener-Waterloo won, Kitchener lost and Palermo Hammered the Wellington Sox in opening night play at Doug Fischer Park in New Dundee site of the OASA Intermediate championship.

Mike Pullen LP, 7 innings on 7 earned runs, allowed 8 hits., K’d 4 Cubs and walked 4, Willy Wills caught

For the Cubs…Bob Gillow went 4 for 4 at the plate scored 3 runs…Grant Baechler made an awesome diving catch behind 1st base in the 4th….

Justin Crown 2B, diving play and made a great play to first to throw out the runner.

Watch when you leave, the driveway is quite narrow as you turn onto Queen Street.

Saturday in New Dundee, the weather is hot, some of the games take a long time..2 hours and 35 minutes..others are over in 1 hour and 15 minutes..

It seems that Clark Hayman the ProNouncer has been involved with both of these loooooong games, so it seems that the announcer is at fault..

The Ontario Amatuer Softball Association Championship was won this evening by the Owen Sound Selects, by a score of 6 – 0 over the Kitchner Hallman Twins. Owen Sound opened the scoring with 3 runs in the first inning, added 2 in the third and one more in the 5th to claim the OASA Senior Fastpitch championship and enter the national championships being held in Owen Sound in late August, not only as the host team, but the Provincial Champs as well. Matt Leahy went 7 innings for the Selects, allowing Kitchener only 2 hits.

So, will it be a repeat of last year at Hillside…KW Cubs vs Cobourg Force…or will the Cubs play Wellington Sox, Kitchener Outlaws, or the Toronto Gators…

Score does not indicate how close this game was until the Cubs expanded their lead late in the game. Scott Wagar was dominate for the Cubs throwing a perfect game into the seventh. Mel Ross took the loss for the Sox

    It was very certain after watching the teams in the intermediate division that the Kitchener Waterloo Cubs
