The WCFA is organizing a travel league for 2014, these are the dates we are considering:
March 22-23 Stockon
April 5-6 Stockton/Hayward
May 3-4 Open
May 17-18 Reno or /Central Cal
June 7-8 Reno/Central Cal
July 12-13 Sonora
July 26-27 Seeded Tournament
The following is a survey that I need your response to as soon as possible.
1. Do want only one event per month or in May would you be will to play twicw?
2. Are you willing to start in March?
3. Will you allow guest teams to play?
4. Format
a. a five game round robin (3 games Sat and two on Sunday)
b. 3 games Saturday and single elimination on Sunday with two games guaranteed and a winner each weekend?
5. Awards: trophys, t-shirts, or money as a paid berth or split evenly for all teams going to the Nationals.
6. Events: 5 events and a tournament at the end or 6 events and a tournament at the end? May 3-4 can either be part of the travel league or a separate tournament in Hayward ?
7. If you want stats posted each event will need score keepers and a web master. Do you want score keepers? Do you want stats?
8. Balls: Do you want 2 new balls per game or start the day with 3 balls and have one new and 1 new per game?
The cost of the league will be determined once we know the number of teams that are committed. All cities require deposits in December, I may ask the local team for an event to secure those fields. WCFA worked jointly with Nafa and ASA in 2013 regeristing all teams and umpires in both associations. We plan on continuing this practice in 2014 and working with Fred Williams and the Hawwiaan League. In order to start the league, we are asking all teams to put up a $250 deposit in November and a payment plan will be available in January 2014.
