
The Roseville Eagles picked up where they left off last year going 4-0 over the weekend in Hayward. We started the weekend off with a 2-1 win over the Bay Area Merchants. Eddie Gaspar went the distance for the win. Mark Summers had the game winning hit in the 6th inning after both teams scored 1 run apiece in the first inning.
Roseville then took on the Savala Painters and handled them 10-3 after 5 innings. Gaspar went the distance again for the win.
Sunday, Roseville again drew the Savala Painters and advanced to the championship game with a 7-3 win. Nate Dondero got the win.
In the championship game, Roseville drew the East Bay Bashers after their dramatic extra inning win over Bay Area Merchants. Roseville came out a 6-5 winner as Nick Freitas lined a bases loaded single in the bottom of the 8th for the walk off stinger. Dondero pitched all 8 innings earning the Most Valuable Player award for the tournament. All in all, it was a great 1st weekend of ball.
