The USA staged a valiant comeback attempt, scoring four runs in the bottom of the 7th inning, to tie the game with two outs, on a pinch-hit bases-loaded triple by Wylie Baumer, followed by a game-tying double by Ian Carlin. But with the international tie breaker rule in play in the 8th inning, Canada outscored the USA, 2 to 1, and came away with a 7-6 win.
