The writer in this article doesn’t exactly know what he is talking about. He mentions that Watson faced guys that throw 100 mph from 43 feet which is like 125 mph from 60 feet. He also said that you cannot be sucessfull unless you have a pitcher who can throw in the 90’s with all four pitches. I don’t know of any pitchers that can bring it 90 mph, the closest I have seen was 88, let alone 100. I am sure that Watson will cringe when he see’s that exaturation.
I live in the Bremerton area that is mentioned in this article and we have a traveling team called K-Club who plays in all the tournaments in Washington. My Dad, Dan Kolda, has been playing “A”ball since the early 80’s and was the MVPitcher of the 1982 “A” nationals. His passion for the game has paved the way for me to be the #2 pitcher on our team (behind my dad), and my brother to lead off and play 1st, and my dads step kids to play 2nd and short stop for our team. K-Club or Kolda’s club will be starting its 3rd season this year and we plan on continuing the legacy that has been handed down to us to keep the greastest game I have ever know going. We are a young team who has introduced the game to a number of young, talented players who have found the passion that a sport like slowpitch will never match.
I hope that this article will raise some awareness about the sport and I hope that I get contacted by some intersted players who are not ready to give up their competetive drive and submit to the dull world of slowpitch softball.
Thanks for posting this article, I wouldn’t have seen it otherwise.

I go back to the middle 50?s when every bar and shop in the navy yard had a fast pitch team. Ace pavings with doc. Throwing for them. My folks loved the game so me and my brother went to all the games at warren and the field where the parking lot is now at o.c. i decided to learn how to throw so my brother was my catcher and when we went to the games in the evenings doc would take time to help me learn to throw. I learned the raiser, curve, sinker and my favorite which was the change up. I spent 21 years in the navy and played from 1960 until 1978 when i retired from the game. I played up in new foundland, kingsville, memphis and alameda. I never made all navy but came close. I best speed was in the 70?s but i sure fooled alot of batters with my change up.
