Also at Las Vegas in the A-Majors, Santa Rosa Fastpitch defeated the New Mexico Hitmen 5-0 in an opening round game Saturday as pitcher Jeff Want threw a no-hitter, just missing a perfect game. One runner reached base on an error and he was quickly erased on a doubleplay. Santa Rosa was scheduled to play Page Brake later in the day.

SAU of Utah defeated Santa Rosa Fastpitch 5-1 in the championship game Sunday in the A-Major division of the Las Vegas Tournament. In finishing second, Santa Rosa followed up Saturday’s win over New Mexico Hitman with a 6-0 victory over Page Brake but then lost 7-3 to SAU. On Sunday Santa Rosa beat New Mexico 8-1 (?) and edged Page Brake 7-6 to reach the championship game

Actually, each team only had to win one game on Sunday to reach the championship…Santa Rosa beat Page 7-6 and SAU beat NM Hitmen 11-1.
