Team USA went 4-0 in its first weekend of action for the 2015 Season, as they prepare for two big events in the world of International men’s fastball this summer, the WBSC World Championships in Saskatoon, SK, June 26-July 5, 2015 and the Pan-American Games in Toronto ONT July 12-18, 2015.
The four game weekend was at Lancaster, Pennsylvania, in the Rodney Fox Memorial Tournament. Their closest contest was an 12-11 win over one of the world’s best teams, PA Power, ending on a bases loaded walk with the international tie breaker in effect. The game started on Saturday afternoon, but was delayed overnight due to rain. Derrick Zechman and Matt Palazzo homered in the first inning on Saturday, with the game resuming in the second inning early Sunday morning, with USA leading 2-0. Sunday saw 21 runs cross the plate, with the 12-11 final score in a battle of heavyweights.
Josh Johnson put an exclamation mark on Team USA’s perfect 4-0 weekend, with a no-hitter against Bedford, picking up the 2-0 win.
