Jennie Finch’s New Website

Thursday, May 20th, 2010

Not that you need an excuse to visit, but Jennie Finch has a new website.

After a stellar college career, Olympic gold, Jennie continues to serve as a great role model, with her youth camps and charity work.

A little background on a local girl who made good (from the official website):

Jennie Finch was born on September 3, 1980, in La Mirada, California and grew up in a close knit family. She is the youngest of Doug and Bev Finch’s three children. Family is important to Jennie and she credits them for much of her success. Jennie’s dad, Doug, spent countless hours working with Jennie over the years. Jennie’s mom is a huge Dodgers fan, and between her love of baseball, Doug’s infinite patience and devotion, and Jennie’s two older brothers who loved to play, Jennie grew up a true blue Dodgers fan with a passion for baseball. She was excited when just after her fifth birthday her parents signed her up for her first t-ball league. She couldn’t wait to play just like her brothers, but this was even cooler because girls were doing it.

From Kyle Koterba, President, Fargo Moorhead Fastpitch Association

Greetings All,

The Fargo Fastpitch Association is please to announce that we have a new web site . The new site will provide a number of great features for our local teams as well as provide a resource for all Fastpitch/Fastball teams in North America. The new site give users the ability to sort through a graphic calendar very similar to the calendar used in the Mircrosoft Outlook application. The calendar will also allow you to filter the tournament calendar by Geographic Region as well as by the varying types of Qualifying Tournaments (ISC, ISCII, NAFA ect). Many of the tournaments that your teams or fans may attend are already listed on the site. I would invite all of you to visit the site and send us any additional details regarding your tournaments. Also if you have pictures, videos or tournament brochures that you would like us to post please feel free to send them. If you know of other tournaments not listed here please forward this email to the tournament director or let us know so we may contact them.

Over the next few months we will continue to expand the site and provide more features and info about the game we all love!

Here are some items that are in the works right now.

Message Board Feature – The message board will allow anyone to post their comments about the site, up coming tournaments or players/teams making news.

RSS News – The News page will allow the fastpitch community to submit articles about anything fastpitch and can be subscribed to so you can get the Breaking News when something new is posted. Tournament Scores – With your help, www.fargofastpitch.com will keep you in the loop as to the events around the fastpitch world. Send us an email about your tournament scores and high lights and we post them to your tournament page.

Thank you for your time and look forward to hearing from you.

Men’s Fastpitch Blog in Pennsylvania

Friday, February 13th, 2009

We ran across a new blog for men’s fastpitch in Pennsylvania, which today posted a link to our ISC II blog, “The Deuce”. The mission statement for the PA blog is as follows:

The intent of this blog/webpage is for the discussion of men’s fastpitch softball played in Pennsylvania. My hope is that the blog will allow teams to provide me with pictures, statistics, and team information. It would also be nice to be able to add schedules and team results as tournaments are being played. The discussion and content will be for ALL teams that play in Pennsylvania. Please send all pictures, information, and questions to baller55@live.com

The blog currently has a poll question posted.

Thanks to Pennyslvania for the shoutout to “The Deuce”, and to Blair Setford for his work in ID’ing the many ISC II player photos from Maddy’s 2009 AAA Galleries. Blair’s original post is here.

Argentine Fastpitch Website

Monday, October 6th, 2008

Here is a new website/blog, from Argentina, C.P.E.F. Nº 5 – SOFTBOL “DEL POLY AL MUNDO.

The site will test your Spanish but also contains a variety of photos, some of which you may have seen before, and others, like this one, which you have not. (Like the Ballparkradio girls times 100).

While Google Translator is not perfect, it will help you get the gist of the stories posted (and sometimes hilarious results)

More evidence of the game’s global reach.

Hat tip to our friend in Omaha, Nebraska, Matt Christensen for this link.

Morning Brief Heads Into Fifth Season

Thursday, March 6th, 2008

I noticed the other day that the list of “Morning Brief Archives” links over on the right hand side of this page was getting awfully long. It caught my eye that the first posts date back to March of 2004, meaning that this month marks the start of our fifth season of blogging men’s fastpitch here at Fastpitchwest.com. (Longtime readers may remember that the Morning Brief actually ran for a short while on Google’s Blogger site, before finding its permanent home right here. ) Four-plus years and over 2300 post later, and we’re still at it.

Click here for a stroll down memory lane, back to those first posts in March 2004, one entitled “Who’ll Stop the Rain” and another about “Lord of the Rings”, a recap of 2003 MVP award winners. (Click the headlines to expand to the entire posts)

Remember you can sign up for a Feedblitz email update which sends you a short summary when new posts are added. We appreciate your readership, and hope that you continue to enjoy our coverage of the world of men’s fastpitch.
