Are You Getting Blitzed?

Feedblitzed, that is. Feeblitz is a free service that will email you a list of new posts to this blog, the “Morning Brief”, right around midnight. Never more than one email per day, and only when new items are added. It’s a great way to stay up on all the latest in the world of Men’s Fastball, and eliminate the surfing back and forth to see if there’s something new.

We’ve posted a sample online, so you can see what it looks like before you sign up. Note the clickable links that can take you right to the post if you want to read the entire piece. It’s like RSS, but simpler, because it comes right to your email inbox.

Latin Heat to Defend Beaumont Crown Dec 16-17

2006 Toys 4 Tots Tournament:

The HEAT are back in action this weekend (December 16-17, 2006) to participate in the annual Toys 4 Tots Tournament held in Beaumont, CA. LATIN HEAT return to Beaumont, CA to defend their 2005 Championship against a field of 14 teams, but the tournament motivation makes it obvious there are more lofty causes than the Heatâ€™s finish. In addition to the entry fee, all players are requested to bring toys for donation to the Toys 4 Tots Foundation. The HEAT aim to contribute to the Holiday Cheer promoted by the tournament as well as bring about a few cheers when HEAT runners cross the plate.

In recent tournament action, LATIN HEAT finished 4th out of 14 teams at the Phoenix Winter Invitational Tournament. The HEAT offense burned opposing pitchers averaging 9.5 runs a game (38 Runs/ 4 Games). Championship hopes were eventually squashed by Utah Fastpitch (ASA â€œAâ€ Classified Team), but not before the HEAT became the 1st team of the tournament to post a run against Utahâ€™s Steve Morgan, the eventual Championship winning pitcher.

Recent Team News:

1. #6 â€“ Mario Ramsey (3B/SS): Unavailable for the Phoenix Winter Invitational, Ramsey will rejoin the HEAT in Toys 4 Tots Tournament play.
2. #22 â€“ Eddie Gonzalez (1B/DH): Gonzalez has been on a 3-month long hiatus from team play (Absent since September 2006). Unconfirmed reports suggest he may be in uniform for the upcoming weekend. His agent, Tonya Gonzalez, was unavailable for comment. Rumors are swirling that Gonzalez may tab Boras & Flanagan to take over his representation.
3. #28 â€“ Ned Waters (1B/2B/3B/SS): #2 Hitter Ned Waters, known for years as one of the craftiest bats in Southern California, has recently expanded upon his arsenal. Waters is smashing the ball for power, totaling 2 HRs and 2 Triples over the last two tournaments, while maintaining his always-high On-Base %.

Speaking of Illinois…..

Speaking of the great state of Illinois, a belated welcome from Fastpitchwest to the members of the Illinois section of the Fastpitchwest Forum. . We are honored to host the board members from the former www.ilfastpitch.com board, here at Fastpitchwest, and say “welcome”.

www.ilfastpitch.com was developed and hosted by Brian Tobin, who did an outstanding job of providing a place on the internet for this region of the country. With Brian’s assistance, we are happy to welcome Illinois to the FPW Forum. As you can see from the postings there, fastpitch is alive and well in the Illinois region, and on their forum board. Its members are among the most frequent posters to the entire Forum, so it’s a great place to catch up on all the action in that part of the country.

Have You Visited “The Deuce” lately?

Have you visited our ISC II blog, “The Deuce” lately? The format is similar to the Morning Brief, though the content different, focusing on the ISC II teams and the ISC II Tournament of Champions. The tournament is held in conjunction with the ISC World Event each year, with this year’s big event slated for Kitchener, Ontario, Canada. Kitchener is the birthplace of the ISC II tournament, with the very first T of C held there. The ISC and ISC II tournaments will host 67 of fastball’s finest, 32 in the ISC World Division, and35 in the ISC II, representing the highest level of competition in the game.

The ISC II Tournament of Champions runs from Sunday August 13 to Friday August 18, with a 5pm Championship game. Things at “The Deuce” will kick into high gear as the tournament gets underway, with daily posts for fans and players alike. The Elmira Cubs will be back to defend their 2005 title. More than two dozen games will be broadcast live on the internet at Ballparkradio.com

JRW Associates of Yakima, Washington, the Colorado Rage and the California Lumberkings will represent the western region of the US at the tournament. JRW and the Rage are veterans of the last few ISC II tournaments, while the Lumberkings will make their first appearance, the first ever for a California team. JRW Associates finished 10th in the 2004 tournament, the highest finish for a western region team to date.
