Streaming of Video and Audio Broadcasts from International Softball Congress Tournaments in Wisconsin Draw Larger Crowds

“Is anybody ‘out there’ listening? Or watching?”

Those questions are always a key concern when any form of communication is produced and presented to audiences – – particularly audiences which are not at the scene of the action being described.

Well, they WERE out there listening, and they WERE out there watching when the streaming of audio broadcasts and the live streaming video were coming from Eau Claire and Chippawa Falls, Wisconsin, last week during the I.S.C. World Tournament and the ISC-II Tournament of Champions.

The numbers are in, and they are good – – – VERY good!

The increases in listeners/viewers compared with 2004 are impressive, to say the least.

The number of ISC World Tournament hits for the 2005 tourney broadcasts and telecasts increased by 50% to well over 15,000.

The number of hits on broadcasts from the ISC-II Tournament of Champions nearly doubled from the 2004 total to over 8,100.

Dave Blackburn, ISC Commissioner of Streaming and Broadcasting was well-pleased with the response:

“Our live streaming video of the three games on Championship Saturday provided ISC fans with a Press Box point of view and a glimpse at the future of fastball coverage,” says Blackburn. “The fact that people requested nearly 25,000 accesses to our ISC and ISC-II video and audio streams speaks to our successful growth of this five year old offering to the global fastball community.”

Jim Flanagan, ISC-II Broadcaster, of Ballparkradio.com, observed that, “The response to the broadcasts from the ISC-II fans and players has been nothing short of spectacular. We received e-mails from all over the U.S., Canada, and even Europe from listeners tuning into the games.” Flanagan further noted that, “The streaming audio broadcasts bring the excitement of the game right into the living room of the families and fans back home and provides great exposure for the game of fastball. Blair Setford has built a crew of quality broadcasters for the ISC-II, including Joe Todd, Lance Winn, Brett Bresnahan, and Chris Bach.”

Blair Setford, ISC-II Commissioner, who heads up the ISC-II broadcast program, observed that, “We are very pleased to see the increase in listeners to the ISC-II Tournament of Champions, and we look forward to bringing those games to even more fans next year.”

Blackburn referred to the coverage and the response as a “glimpse of the future.”

Well said! And BRING IT ON!!!

Players Weigh in on ISC Broadcast Schedule

Tuesday, August 9th, 2005

There’s an interesting discussion going on over at the GHFL.ca (Golden Horshoe Fastball League) website, about the recently released ISC Broadcast Schedule. A player from one of the 30 teams not on the schedule weighs in:

Taking a look at the broadcast schedule, it only involves the power pools. Speaking as a player involved in the tournament, a player rep, and on behalf of others, there are another 30 teams in the tournament. These other 30 teams will be leaving every thing on the field in the upcoming week. Why do the remaining 75% of the ISC fastball community have to be forgotten again.

Another argues that the fans want to hear the big name teams and players:

Name recognition…..Lets face it boys, people know the big names and they are going to get the airtime. There are going to be lots of great games all week but if you need make a schedule in advance, what direction are you going to pick…All of the games in the playoff round will be broadcast. Qualify for that and you’ll get your airtime.

Some good points being made on both sides of the issue. To read more, click here, and enter your own comment if you wish.

2005 ISC II Tournament of Champions Webcast Schedule

Monday, August 8th, 2005

From ISC II Commissioner Blair Setford:

August 8, 2005

Following our highly successful debut in 2004, we are pleased to announce the webcast schedule for the 2005 ISC II Tournament of Champions starting this Sunday at Casper Park in Chippewa Falls, WI.

The round robin portion of the webcast schedule calls for 13 games featuring 20 different teams, including nearly every one of the top 20 ranked teams.

ISC II fans can also expect to hear 11 playoff games, including both semi-final games and the championship game on Friday, August 19 at 4:00 PM Central time.

Back in the broadcast booth are BallParkRadio.com’s Jim Flanagan and ISC II Commissioner Blair Setford along with Joe Todd, Brett Bresnahan and Lance Winn. Chris Bach will be the “out-of-town” reporter providing regular updates on game scores from both the ISC II Tournament of Champions as well as the ISC World Tournament.

All regularly scheduled games can be heard by clicking on the following link: http://www.sportsjuice.com/providers2/index.php?tname=isc2 which is also available on the ISC II page at www.iscfastpitch.com.

Along with the regularly scheduled games, the option to produce alternate channel games is available this year thanks to the wireless connectivity technology in use at Casper Park.

If we produce these alternate channel games, they will be available through this link: http://www.sportsjuice.com/providers2/index.php?tname=ballparkradio or you can connect by simply clicking on the Click to Listen button at www.ballparkradio.com. Please note that some, all or none of these alternate games will be produced, depending on the technology as well as sponsorship and personnel availability.

If you are playing or otherwise participating in the 2005 ISC II Tournament of Champions, please take a few minutes of your time to fill out the Team and Player Bio forms at the following web page: http://www.ballparkradio.com/profile_forms.htm

Please also ask all the players on your team to take the time to fill out the questionnaires at the link as well.
These profiles enable us to learn more about the teams and players that we are covering and to produce a more interesting broadcast for our listeners.

The ISC II Tournament of Champions will feature 38 teams from across North America playing a four-game round robin schedule. The top three teams from each of the eight pools advance to a single elimination playoff bracket.
