One gets what it wants, Another what it needed

The hometown fans got what they wanted tonight, as the Prince George Black Bears outlasted Newfoundland, 9-6 in a second round playoff game, putting them in tonight’s 8pm game at Spruce City Stadium in Prince George. Yet another “feature” game for the host team.

Another BC team got what it needed badly – a win when it counted, setting up an all British Columbia semi-final, as the Vancouver Grey Sox knocked off the Saskatoon Black Sox in an epic battle, 6-5 in 8 innings. For the Vancouver Grey Sox, the 2006 Candians has been a series of disappointments. They came into the tournament a week ago as one of the favorites, boasting a roster with more members of Team Canada than any other team. Vancouver has not won this tournament in 50 years, and the team seemed to feel and show the pressure of expectations during the round robin portion of the tournament when they went 2-5. But they rallied on the final weekend, and now find themselves without “double life”, but still playing on the eve of the final day.
