County Materials WI Repeats as ISC World Champions

Sunday, August 20th, 2006

County Materials, of MarathonWI, a team consisting with many members from the ISF World Champion New Zealand Black Sox squad, captured the ISC World Tournament title with an easy 7-1 win over Patsy’s of New York. Patsy’s had sent County to the loser’s bracket in the winner’s bracket final, but County charged back through the bracket, notching wins over # 2 ranked Farm Tavern, and the # 3 ranked Orillia Riversharks, followed by the win in the championship game.

Australian Andrew Kirkpatrick picked up the win in the championship game, and was later honored as the tournament’s Outstanding Pitcher. County’s first baseman Jarrad Martin was tabbed as the tournament’s Most Valuable Player.

The championship game was decided in the first couple of innings, as County scored 4 off starter Gerald Muzillaer (who had beaten them earlier in the tournament on a 1-hit shutout), in the first and then 3 more off of young Adam Folkard, in the third including a 3 run homer by County catcher Patrick Shannon that put the game out of reach, and seemed to take any remaining wind out of the sails of Patsy’s, who were forced to sit on the sidelines all day Saturday due to a rain delay, while County had an opportunity to get their bats going.
